The closing section, "Outlook", summarizes the book’s arguments for a new orientation: in the decades to come, it challenges Germany to become a solar-solidarity society. Step one is to create the 2000-watt society, and asserting ecologically fair world economic relations is step two. While it is true that investment interests collide with civil society in both steps, they also show the contours of a new social contract, which might nourish the hope of weathering this century with dignity.
